Our Horses > success stories > Fame for a DayFame for a Day - Four years of Success Stories!November 11, 2007Elizabeth, I get to see Lea Mueller at the barn and she seems so happy with "Taken
Chances". She brought in some pictures of him last week
and he is very handsome! He reminds me a lot of Fame when he was
that age. Enjoy the pictures and come see us! Elizabeth's Note: Thank you to Glori and Fame For a Day for four years of Success Stories! We encourage all buyers to keep in touch so that we know our horses are being loved and enjoyed. Shame on the buyers who are not staying in touch! We want to be able to help if things are not going well. We also want to know if a horse has passed away. We have made a promise to the sellers of our horses that we will make sure they always have a good home. Help us to fullfill our promise - PLEASE stay in touch!April 7, 2007 - Fame Turns Seven!Elizabeth,
We had such fun despite the extremely cold temperatures. We all managed to eat cake in the barn as we shook with numbness.....party hats included!
January 4, 2007Elizabeth, It went very well and the chiropractor felt that he was is very good shape to have never been adjusted. After checking him out thoroughly, he only had to make minor adjustments to neck and shoulder area. You were right about the stretching as the chiropractor told me to only do it for about 5 - 10 minutes at a time to prevent soreness. He also gave me a lesson on how to properly stretch Fame in order to prevent any unnecessary strain. The stretches that I have been doing over the past several weeks have made a huge difference. Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks for your input over the telephone a few nights ago. I plan on having Fame on a schedule with the chiropractor based on his training levels from here on out.
December 13, 2006Barry & Elizabeth, Fame and I went to a hunter pace this weekend and we came in sixth place. Being that I attended just to get Fame out and about to see some beautiful winter scenery, I was shocked when we ended up coming in sixth place! He was such a good boy too....but he always is. October 13, 2006Christy, Marc, and I have talked about the clinic for days on end and now we can't seem to stay off the site! I think we should make this an annual event. I loved meeting Niki, Linnea, Hailey, Morgan, Paula and everyone else. You are so right...there was a buzz in the air that day that no one could explain! Christy and I declared on the way home that it was the best weekend that we have had in years! We are still buzzing and are not sure when we will come down. --Gloria October 12, 2006Elizabeth, I'm keeping my eye on Niki and Romeo and look forward to more of their successes! Thank you for this site......It so inspires me to become not only a better rider, but a more humble human being. Elizabeth's Note: Gloria and Fame were both inexperience when they became a "Perfect Match" made at Bits & Bytes Farm back in December 2003. They are the pair responsible for the Success Stories on this site. Gloria has been wonderful with her updates and we decided that we should share her successes on the Bits & Byte Farm Web site. We are so proud of how far Gloria and Fame for a Day have come in their training. We hope that all our horse sales are as successful as this one. Hats off to Gloria Coleman and Fame for a Day!August 28, 2006Elizabeth, Love, Elizabeth's Note: Both Fame and Gloria were green when they came together. Fame was very quiet and easy to handle - even at three years of age - when Gloria purchased him. We knew they were a "Perfect Match". They have both learned together under the close supervision of a good trainer.July 29, 2006Elizabeth, I am taking him to a schooling show on August 19th. Be prepared for
some more photos of my AWESOME boy! Enjoy the pics. of my trainer
(now Mrs. Kasee Trefgzer-Sluder...she and Andy married in May) riding
Mr. Fame!.
March 31 2006Hey Elizabeth, Since the February 27th e-mail (post hunter pace), Fame and I have been jumping courses! It is so exciting! We started out in a lesson about two weeks ago just jumping a few lines, then Kasee challenged me to do a course that she had set up. Fame looked like a pro. We completed the course at what I thought was perfection! When we finished the course, Kasee had cold chills all over body. We are unstoppable now. He is going to be such a nice hunter (those are the words from Kasee as well). I hope that you and Barry are doing well. Hopefully we will come down soon. I am in the market for the perfect trailer for my boy. If you have any suggestions, please inform me. I think a 7"6 is going to be our best bet being that Fame is such a big boy (over 17 hands now). I would certainly appreciate your input. Love, February 27, 2006Dear Elizabeth & Barry, This weekend Kasee, my trainer, was nice enough to invite us to join her at a hunter pace at Clemson University. This pace was hosted by C.U.'s equestrian team. I was very excited, and not to mention, a bit nervous, to see how my boy was going to perform during this event. Needless to say, he was AWESOME and very BRAVE! The course was
much to be desired due to some rain showers the night before and there were some
daunting obstacles to get through. During the first three minutes of the pace,
we encountered a very narrow bridge and then a crossing that was a drop off into
a small river with an immediate climb up narrow steps that were made of railroad
cross ties. Whew, Fame did not flinch! He was steady and quiet. We went on for
a while and we got to experience our first "wide open" gallops in several
massive fields. My baby boy can flat out run! Fame loved it! He gave out a
few "Wheeee, this is so much fun Mommy" bucks. It was a sheer blast. I know
that we have not had this much fun in our time together. I am high on life right
now! Thank you so much for such an amazing animal (I know I tell you both that
all the time, but I mean it from the pit of my soul). Enjoy the pictures!
Lots of Love! October 2005
August 2005
May 9, 2005Hi Elizabeth!
January 19, 2005Elizabeth, Fame is making transitions so smoothly and without hardly any effort. He is "up" and really stretching his legs out during the trot and canter. His walk is very nice as well! I just had to share this with you because I am so excited! Thank you! Thank you! for my boy! I just wanted to let you know that the "Dynamic
Duo" had a GREAT day today in the hopes that it will put a smile
on your face and know that there are people who are out there who
are very grateful for the work that you do! January 14, 2005What a wonderful weekend Fame and I had at the clinic! The trainer was absolutely wonderful and we learned a lot. I had some issues with Fame not wanting to go forward for a few weeks now. Chuck, the trainer from Lake Erie College, solved them in about ten minutes. I rode him with a dressage whip, which helped me keep him going whenever he would slow down when I didn't want him to. He now has the most wonderful walk, trot, and canter now.
He was also showing off a bit in the arena by performing flying lead changes. If he picked up the wrong lead, Fame would usually correct himself before I would even have the chance to do so! It was a wonderful weekend!! We are hoping that he will come back to the Biltmore in the near future. The beauty of this clinic is that Chuck concentrated on each individual riders needs. I have been in clinics where the clinicians focus on a specific job (jumping, dressage, etc.) This was very nice and exactly what many of the students at BEEC needed and wanted. I hope that you enjoy the photos of my boy!
He is becoming such a nice horse, in more ways that one! I am also
sooo glad that I purchased a baby instead of an older horse because
I get such a sense of accomplishment everyday with Fame as we BOTH
progress through our journey together. Marc Is beaming with pride
after this weekend and actually getting to see the progress that Fame
and I have made ( or maybe he is just happy that his money is being
well spend)! Hope that you all had a wonderful weekend...we sure did!
The results I got in this clinic was probably the best birthday present
I have ever received in my life! January 2005Dear Elizabeth,
I know that you think that Fame and I have fallen off the edge of the world, but we have NOT!! We are still going strong and working hard (about four days a week along with Kasee riding Fame once a week). He looks so good because he is finally getting out of his awkward colt stage and looking more like a handsome strong thoroughbred. Yes, he has filled out more and his legs are not getting in the way of his progress in the arena (hee hee). It is amazing how much Mr. Fame has matured over the past year both physically and mentally.
We will be participating in a clinic on January 15th and 16th and I am very much looking forward to it. This clinic has been organized by Kasee. Her trainer from Ohio (Lake Erie College) will coming to the Biltmore to give students private instruction. Fame and I have signed up for both days of the clinic! Fame has come a long way in almost 24 months and I am so proud of him ( not to mention myself too). He has taught me so much and I am grateful that I have had such a young horse to have the patience to deal with ME! He has never once demonstrated anger toward me. You were right, he is the horse for me!! I know that many people thought I was crazy for buying such a young horse as a novice rider, but we have proven them wrong time and time again! I will be getting out of school in six weeks and I plan on dedicating 100% of my time to Mr. Fame. Over the past year we have been working hard
on ground manners and basic exercises in the arena and on the trail
and it has paid off. I think now that Fame is technically five years
old, it is time to get really serious. Look out world, here we come!!!
Thank you for you wonderful web site...it inspires me to keep striving
to reach my goals and love my horse like no other horse has ever been
loved. September 2004Fame and Gloria survey the damage done by the hurricanes to the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC. Fame lives at the Biltmore Estate. They lost their paddocks (including Fame's) along the river and the flood waters carried away all the jumps in the lower arena. Fortunately, all the horses were fine.
December 2003One of our favorite horses lives up to his name. Fame is living the life of the rich and "FAMEous" at the Biltmore Estate stable in Asheville, NC. Fame for a Day was purchased last spring by Gloria and Mark Coleman. Gloria was a beginner rider at the time and Fame was a green, just turned three year old. (Hear Fame sing his birthday tune on his photo pages.) Fame and mom Gloria are featured in the Biltmore Estate Equestrian Center Winter 2004 newsletter.
How beautiful Fame is now that he has filled out. He just keeps getting prettier every day. Gloria tells us she is totally in love with this boy and her husband is not even upset. As a matter of fact, Mark is taking riding lessons in the hope that Gloria will allow him to ride Fame one day. Don't worry Mark, we can get you your own horse when you are ready. We know where Fame's brother is . . .
A note from Gloria: Hi Elizabeth, We had a wonderful trip in to visit with our parents for the holidays, EXCEPT, we had to come home a day early so I could see the baby! He was so good today in the outdoor arena (again, it was a real nice, calm day). I rode him for a while in the outdoor arena before Cathy drove down to give me my lesson and Fame was so steady, listened well to all that I asked of him, and was dead quiet. He was such a good boy for our lesson as well. He has learned so much in the past couple of months. He is becoming much more balanced and is responding so well to his training. It still amazes me that, since I've had him, I've NEVER had to catch him in his paddock. Today, he saw me walking towards his paddock and he made a bee-line for me! He melts my heart (especially when I've not seen him in a few days). I know that I will never be without Mr. Fame! Cathy rode him a few times while I was out of town and said that he was really good. THAT'S MY BOY!! I am sending you some photos that we took the day that we left to go out of town. Of course, I had to go see Fame before we left and also get photos for his Grandparents to see (Ha!) I hope that you will be able to notice a difference in his weight and muscle tone compared to the last photos that you viewed of him. These photos depict Fame's sweet nature and how he follows Marc and I around his paddock. When I'm outside with him, he never leaves my side. Enjoy
these photos and have a Merry Christmas!! |
