UPDATE MARCH 7, 2011: Detroit Iron aka “Andy” is now at Bits & Bytes Farm. Call to schedule an appointment to see him. See photos of “Andy” at our farm.

“Detroit Andy” is a 2006, 16 hands (and still growing), gray Thoroughbred gelding for sale from his breeder. He was fair race horse and he has retired sound to his breeder’s farm in Kentucky. He has never had a reason to be x-rayed during all his ten starts at the track. He has never had a bad day. He has a great disposition and he is lovely to look at. He raced at Keeneland, Laurel and Colonial Downs. This is not a low end Thoroughbred nor one that has filtered down to a bottom level track. His breeder cares about where his horses go after racing so he retires them sound and he is very particular about who gets his horses.

This may be the gray you have been waiting for. His family includes: Caro (IRE), Buckpasser, Runaway Groom (CAN), Blushing Groom (FR), Alydar, Tom Fool and Northern Dancer (CAN). This is a well built, solid horse with lots of European and Canadian blood. He is a long distance turf horse and he has had no injuries, so, he should make a great event horse. His racing stride reminds us of Zenyatta.
