OTTBs: Off-the-Track Thoroughbreds We Have SOLD!
These are just some of the more recent Thoroughbred ex-race horses we have found new jobs for. Be sure to go to our OTTB Success Stories to read more about how they are doing in their new careers. We require all buyers to keep in touch with us to let us know how the horse is doing. We offer free advice and placement services to all our buyers and the horses we place. Sometimes a horse comes to Bits & Bytes Farm to get it's initial training. We are always happy to start any horse we have for sale. Safe, sane and sound Thoroughbreds are what we sell. You can see more videos on our YouTube channel.
Cause She Can - Thoroughbred Horse For Sale - Bits & Bytes Farm - SOLD!
Cause She Can is a 16 hand (still growing), dark bay/black Thoroughbred mare. She has a warmblood build and should fill out more. She looks like her sire Cowboy Cal. See his photo in her photo gallery. She has only raced three times and she shows no potential to be a contender in Kentucky racing. Her owner purchased her to race in Arizona but there is no racing there due to theCovid-19 pandemic. She needs to find a new career in the show ring. She is believed sound for any career and she has no vices or previous injuries.

UPDATE MARCH 2021: Cause She Can has been SOLD! Congratulations to Nicole McCoy of Sellersville, PA on the purchase of this ‘Black Beauty’.
___________________________________________________________
This mare is very lovable and wants to bond with one person. She is good to ride but she is young and would need a confident rider to show her the ropes. She loves her baths and being brushed. She likes having a routine and a job. In the summer she gets dark and dapples out. She is clipped in these photos so she does not look as dark as she will with her full coat. She is an easy keeper which is unusual in a Thoroughbred - especially a young one that is still growing. I think she will really be mistaken for a warmblood when she is done growing. Another unusual Thoroughbred trait she has is fabulous feet. She might even be able to go barefoot! "Dorothy' has been turned out alone and in a group and either is fine with her.
We feel that 'Dorothy' has show hunter potential. She might just beat all the warmbloods in the open classes. She is a Thoroughbred in training and has raced so she is eligible for the Retired Racehorse Project.
This mare is very well bred and Her pedigree includes many bluebloods such as Giants Causeway, Storm Cat, Northern Dancer, Distorted Humor, Secretariat, Raise A Native, Danzig, Sir Ivor, Hansel, Mr. Prospector, and Forty Niner.
Don't wait to call. Horses are going before we get them to the website. Snooze, you lose. She is available now!

Please call or visit our website for current pricing. The price can go up or down depending on the owner. We always check with the owner when someone is a serious buyer. Many times the price goes down to a really good home. We do not own these horses so we cannot control the pricing. We will not sell a horse to just anyone with the money. We carefully select the horses we sell and we work hard to make a perfect match. If you don’t call, we cannot help you. We are not a rescue and our horses are not ‘rescue priced’. Most horses are between $2500 and $4500 – some higher and some lower. Call and we can talk more about our horses and let us help you find the perfect match. We take the gamble out of getting a Thoroughbred off-the-track. Learn more about how our Track Prospect Horses are priced on the main Bits & Bytes Farm website.

Hong Kong Gardens - Quiet 16+ hand Thoroughbred Horse SOLD!
UPDATE March 2021 - Hong Kong Gardens has been SOLD! Congratulations [...]
UPDATE March 2021 - Hong Kong Gardens has been SOLD! Congratulations to Catalina Titcomb of Canton, GA on the purchase of Hong Kong Gardens. Cat and 'Sammy Kong' will be boarding at Bits & Bytes Farm. Give us a call if you would like to come to meet them.
UPDATE September 2019: Hong Kong Gardens is now being used as a pony horse at the track! In two days, he learned to neck rein, side pass, and turn on the haunches while wearing a Western saddle. He leads horses to the gate and stands quietly when they break open! This horse has a BRAIN!
Hong Kong Gardens is a 2015, 16 hand Thoroughbred gelding who is looking for his new career after retiring clean-legged and sound from racing. This horse is super fun to be around. He has a ton of curiosity and personality. Hong Kong e is great to ride on the track. He has no vices and he is up to date on everything.
This boy gets on a step-up trailer or a ramp trailer with no issues and ships quietly. His trainer really pampers her horses and they all get regular visits to the chiropractor and acupuncturist. The only regular visits Hong Kong has missed…is to the winner’s circle.
Hong Kong is ready to transition to his new show career. He is believed sound for any sport horse career and we know he is sane. Don’t miss out on this one because he will be at the top of the show ring in any discipline. He absolutely floats across the ground at a trot. He is a super cool horse and has been turned out occasionally with mares and other geldings with no issues. This is one very nice big boned gelding.
Oh, and one more thing. Hong Kong Gardens sold at the Keeneland yearling sales in 2016 for $105,000! He is sale priced at just a fraction of his yearling sale price three years ago. Thoroughbred don’t sell for six figures at the Keeneland sale if there is anything wrong with them. He is not selling for anywhere near that price because in 18 races, he won only one! This year, he has been running monthly since March and he is consistent in his ability finish at the bottom of the field to beat just one or two horse in each race. His last race was on July 11, 2019, and he finished last.
Hong Kong Gardens is a nice sweet horse with no talent for racing. He has an impressive pedigree and a disappointing race record. He would make a great sport horse for someone who wants a buddy as well as a fancy show horse. He just needs someone to love him and give him a chance at a different career. Is he your perfect match? Give us a call and we can see.

Utandream - Thoroughbred Horse SOLD! by Bits & Bytes Farm
Utandream is a 2015, dark bay, Thoroughbred gelding. He is not quite [...]
Utandream is a 2015, dark bay, Thoroughbred gelding. He is not quite 15.3 hands. He is only available for sale because his owner-trainer is located in Arizona and the have halted all racing in the state till end of 2021. He is currently on turn out in Arizona so he will be sun-bleached at the moment. These photos were from last fall. He has grown and filled out now that he is five. 'Utand' is sound, vice free, and good for the blacksmith. He cross-ties single-ties, stands for mounting block, and loads on a step up and ramp trailers. He is up-to-date on everything. He is from one of our best owner/trainers who we have gotten many wonderful horses from.
'Utand' is a very well-bred horse with two Triple Crown winners in his pedigree - Seattle Slew and Secretariat. His sire, Stay Thirsty, won almost 2 million dollars and his sire, Bernardini, won over 3 million dollars. 'Utand' pedigree includes A.P. Indy, Storm Cat, Roberto, Hennessy, Northern Dancer, and Nearctic among many other great racehorses. He has raced 26 times and finished first three times. His last race was in February. His Arizona racetrack, Turf Paradise, is shut down until the end of 2021 due to the Coronavirus.
This is a nice horse who is retiring sound. He has always been well cared for. Don't let the Arizona location stop you. We can help you find affordable shipping anywhere in the country. West coast and Texas buyers should really pay attention to this Kentucky bred blue-blood who is in your geographic area. You do not often find Thoroughbreds of this quality west of the Missippi. 'Utand' and is just the coolest guy to be around. He is a good feeling horse who is always happy to go for a gallop. I think any discipline would suit him. His legs have no blemishes and he is just super easy to be around.
Please call for pricing. The price can go up or down depending on the owner. We always check with the owner when someone is a serious buyer. Many times the price goes down to a really good home. Forrest Cat - SOLD!
Just in time for a Christmas surprise or an early gift for yourself! [...]
Just in time for a Christmas surprise or an early gift for yourself! Forrest Cat is a 2017 bay Thoroughbred gelding. He was lightly raced and has been started under saddle. He is well balanced and easy to ride. He is not a deadhead but he is not at all hot. He has a good brain and attitude. He has a lot of growing still to do over the next two to three years. He is currently about 15.3 so I would guess he will end up at 16 to 16.1 hands with a solid build. This should be an easy and fun horse to work with. His price is just $2,000 so don't wait to call if you like him. Call Bits & Bytes Farm at 770-704-6595 (landline) - no texts please. SOLD!

Whodunnitandran - Thoroughbred Horse For Sale | Bits & Bytes Farm | SOLD!
SOLD! Whodunitandran is a 2016, almost 16 hand, bay Thoroughbred mare [...]
SOLD! Whodunitandran is a 2016, almost 16 hand, bay Thoroughbred mare for sale from her owner/trainer. She is totally blemish free and super cool. She is smart and has learned to bow for peppermints and do the 'down dog' yoga stretch when she is tacked up. "Who" is a horse that will go any way you like. If you want to take it easy, she will be laid back. If you like to go, she will step it up if you ask her too. This is a mare that is not marish and she loves to work and be the center of attention.
"Who" loads on a step-up or ram trailer without issue. She single ties, cross ties and she will even stand to have her ears clipped without any halter on! This is a very smart mare without any limitations as to what career she can have. She is a lovely mover and might do well in dressage and eventing. But, because she will go however you want her too, don't rule out any other disciples. She has been turned out with broodmares or with geldings and she gets along with everyone. She goes to the track in an eggbut snaffle, which is considered one of the gentlest type of snaffle bits -- and she doesn't even need a noseband.
Her owner/trainer loves her but she is just not fast enough for the racetrack. She has raced just 10 times and earned only $2,238. Time to find a new career. She is well-bred and has many horses in her pedigree that are proven to produce good sport horses as well as good racehorses.
Don't wait if you like this horse. Call Bits & Bytes Farm for more information. 770-704-6595 between 9 am and 9 pm EDT.Show More

SOLD! -Chief’s Victory is a 2016, bright bay gelding who stands at 16’3+ hands high at just four. ‘Chief’ will definitely finish out over 17 hands. As big as he is we are lucky that he is very well behaved for the blacksmith and he is willing to do anything you ask him to do. He cross-ties, single-ties, loads on a step up, and a ramp trailer. He will eat just about anything and everything you eat. One of his favorite foods is watermelon and jellybeans. He is such a cool guy.
‘Chief’ loves his baths. His owner/trainer has done major foot care on him over the past 10 months. He has an old bucked shin on his left front that does not bother him. She has breezed him a couple of times to see how fast he is and he just doesn’t seem to want to be a racehorse. He is showing no speed, talent, or desire to run.
He is currently unraced. He is very laid back and easy to ride. He will even stand at the mounting block for you to get on. Most racehorses are walking off as the rider is thrown on.
‘Chief’ loves hugs and kisses and will sniff you like a dog. He is a very gorgeous horse with tons of potential. Please be aware he is not conformationally correct therefor we think high-level eventing may compromise his joints. This horse could do western pleasure, hunters, dressage, or even competitive trail. He really loves to train and loves to be brushed and bathed. This is a people horse. So, if you are in the market for a buddy to have fun with, and you don’t want to compete at high levels, this could be a match for you. Visit our website for more photos and current price.
Please call for pricing. The price can go up or down depending on the owner. We always check with the owner when someone is a serious buyer. Many times the price goes down to a really good home. “Misty” is a 2013, 15.3+ hand Thoroughbred filly who has just three race starts and will grow to be over 16 hands. Her groom and gallop boy love her and say she has great ground manners and is a dream to ride on the track. Her gallop boy says you can gallop her with one hand. She does not pull whatsoever. "Misty" is vice free and up-to-date on everything. She is a splendid mover with tons of potential to go any direction you would like her to go. The reason she is offered for sale is that she has a 4% tear in a suspensory. She only needs four months off since it is so slight. The vet says she will be able to have a full career after her rehab. Your pre-purchase vet will have access to the vet who did the scan. Given a few months of time, she will go on to have a full career as a sport/show horse. The vet does not feel she will have any limitations IF given the time off now. Her race trainer needs the stall, so she needs a home. All her medical records will be shared with potential buyers. Please do not e-mail or message. SOLD! - ‘Buffy’ is a 2013, 15.2 hand Thoroughbred mare who is lightly raced. She is lightly raced due to no fault of her own. She should have been a much better racehorse but due to some different managers, she missed her opportunity to shine. She has had just 13 starts and earned only $26,238.
‘Buffy’ has great ground manners and will load on a step-up or ramp trailer very easily. She ships quietly and stands well for the blacksmith. She is already broke to cross tie and to the mounting block. Her other nickname is ‘Peppermint Monger’. She loves to train and be ridden. She can be a little strong to gallop on the track but we think getting away from track will help her. She is clean-legged and has been turned out with geldings and mares. Don’t overlook her because of her size. Sshe is a cute mover with tons of talent. ‘Buffy’ wants to have a special person.
She sold in the Keeneland Yearling Sales in 2014. Her pedigree includes these notable sires: Giants Causeway, Harlan’s Holiday, Storm Cat, Seeking the Gold, Saint Ballado, Halo, Secretariat, Northern Dancer, Roberto, Raise A Native, Buckpasser, Honest Pleasure.
She is believed sound for any career. Are you ready to help her reach her full potential as a sport horse? She is priced for a quick sale as the track is closing soon.Show More

Safe Passage aka ‘Paddy’ is a 2013, 16.1 hh gelding. He last raced on December 20, 2018. He has been enjoying some barefoot time being turned out and getting to be a horse. These pictures do not do him justice. He is a big boned good looking guy who moves so free from his shoulder and hip. He naturally oversteps at the walk. Again, he is barefoot and we had him trot up and down about 15 times on the asphalt and not once did he hesitate or take a bad step. He should make a fabulous dressage horse or maybe even an eventer.
‘Paddy’ carries himself like a much larger horse than he is. He does have some racehorse ankles of which the owner has x-rays. They will be included for release to anyone interested in him and can be compared to x-rays you will have done in a prepurchase exam. He retired sound. We feel that he is not for a novice first-time horse owner because he has real talent and should go to someone who can retrain him to his full potential. He has way too much potential to just sit around.
Learn more and see photos on our website https://www.thoroughbred-horses-for-sale.com/

Exploding Lucy - Thoroughbred Horse For Sale

SOLD TO RACING. NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE.
Exploding Lucy is a 2016, 16'2 hand chestnut filly who is still growing. This girl is the complete package. Lucy is easy to ride and also has perfect manners around the barn. She is from a great family known for its gentle laid-back disposition and trainability. This girl is really sweet and special.
Lucy has only raced once, through no fault of her own. Her owner/trainer has too many horses from other owners to train so his own horses sometimes get shuffled to the back of the training roster. There are a limited number of stalls that each trainer gets at the track. You fill the stalls with first with horses of the owners who are paying for training and if you have room for more, you bring in the horses you own. Because of this, Lucy did not get the time deserved for training at the track – her trainer is that good.
Lucy is clean legged and vice free. She ships quietly and stands for the blacksmith. She has been well started - a clean slate with no bad habits or racing injuries. This girl commands attention when just walking around the shedrow. She will continue to grow and fill out and should look like a warmblood when done growing. Get the warmblood look with the fabulous thoroughbred movement and intelligence.
This filly is from our favorite sire, Western Pride. He is a multiple stakes winner. You might remember two other Western Pride babies who were in training at Bits & Bytes Farm for their new owners in the last year -Made In Her Image (‘Mae’) and Justnamehimeddie (‘Eddie’). Exploding Lucy and Justnamehimeddie also share the same dam so they are full siblings!
Both ‘Eddie’ and ‘Mae’ were quiet from the moment they came off-the-track. You can see photos and videos of them all over our Facebook page and websites. We recently went trail riding with ‘Eddie’ and Clanton’s Dancer (‘Clancy’) at Steadfast Farm where they board with their husband and wife owners – Tom and Jennifer Hartig. ‘Mae’ just recently moved home to be with her mom in Nantucket, MA. Boy, do we miss our ‘Marvelous Missy Mae’! We have video of her coming off the ferry in Nantucket and lots of training videos for you to watch. We expect Lucy to be another easy to train Western Pride baby like his siblings. We also have other horses that have come through this same trainer and they are ALL quiet and fun to ride. Call us and we can fill you in on the details.
If you want to compete, with a great partner, you have found her-look no further. Exploding Lucy is ready to take you to the top.
Please call for pricing. The price can go up or down depending on the owner. We always check with the owner when someone is a serious buyer. Many times the price goes down to a really good home.
