Rocky Bear is a 2008, 16.2 hand, grey Thoroughbred gelding who is a war horse. He has raced 105 times and he is still sound! He is super cool, super sweet and super beautiful. This horse is a fan favorite and is ready for a new career. I say career, because he loves attention, loves to train and loves to please people. He is not ready to retire to an easy life. He would make an awesome show horse in any discipline. If he made it this long in racing without injuries, he should be sound for any career.
“Rocky’s” breeding is blue blood. His pedigree reads like the Who’s Who of racing greats. His grand sire Forestry sired the $16 million Thoroughbred – The Green Monkey. “Rocky” has earned more racing ($82,862) than The Green Monkey ($10,440).
“Rocky” goes to post without a pony he has been galloped by the same exercise rider for the past four years. He is known and loved by all the backstretch workers. When his pictures were being taken three different people came by to pet him and tell me he will be missed – and that I better find “Rocky” the best home ever. On family race days his trainer tacks him up in his race gear and he brings him to the paddock for the kids to love on. Yes, he is THAT sweet! He is such a gentleman.
“Rocky” has no vices and he is clean legged. He is a fantastic mover that will fit into any program. He loves peppermints, whole corn on the cob and carrots. He ships well and is very good for the blacksmith. He has his own round pen which he is turned out into every day. “Rocky” loves to roll in the mud so don’t be looking for a spotless horse ‘cause “Rocky” won’t stay clean. This is one of the most special horses we have been ever asked to find a home for and we want a special owner for him.
Are you special enough to take “Rocky” to the top of the show world? He could be your Snowman if you are as good at spotting a special horse like Harry deLeyer was. Don’t wait to call on this boy.
See his video on the Bits & Bytes Farm Google+ page.

We are not going to talk you into buying a horse! More likely we will ask you to tell us about yourself and your goals. Then, we will help you find the right match or tell you to wait for other horses because none of the current horses are a match.
Prices change based on what price the owner has set. We add a small markup for our services. Prices can go up or down based on how the horse is racing or how quickly the owner wants the horse sold. Most Prospect horses are priced under $5000 with the average being around $3500. Big sound geldings, grey horses and tall horses usually cost more — but not always. Small mares are your best bet if you are price sensitive.
Please read our Pricing Information and Buying a Track Prospect Horse pages before calling. There are several more pages under the Buying Our Horses button at the top of this page. Prospect Horses at the Track will only be sold to buyers with the skills and support to make it a successful transition.
We DO NOT SELL HORSES FOR RACING!
