Lucky Lauren with her albino doberman

Lucky Lauren with her albino Doberman was a last minute addition to the race. She brought along her dobie's support team.

See photos from the rest of our Halloween Costume Party.

No jockeys were seriously injured in the race. No money was actually exchanged. All the participating Dobermans were at one time rescues. Each has now found a loving home and enjoys playing with the Doberman's of Bits & Bytes Farm.

The First Ever Dobie Derby Comes to Bits & Bytes Farm

Our horses > Newz > Dobie Derby

Saturday October 29, 2005 was one of the biggest days in Thoroughbred racing with the Breeders Cup races being run at Belmont Race Track in New York.

The crowds gather for the first ever Dobie Derby held at Bits & Bytes Downs.

In Atlanta, Georgia, it was also a big race day. The crowds gathered at Bits & Bytes Downs for the first ever "Dobie Derby" held during the Horses Halloween Costume party. We had our Thoroughbred race horses and we had our Dobermans. We were ready for competition.

In the Paddock seven dobie's were saddled as our race fans looked on. Each Doberman wore a saddle towel with their name and post position number on it. Their handlers marched them in the Post Parade to the starting gate (well . . . starting fence). It took a few minutes to get them all settled and then the starter called out, "On your mark. Get ready. GO!"

"And . . . They're OFF!" in the Dobie Derby at Bits & Bytes Farm.

Miss Sydney!

Miss Sydney went off as the favorite and at 2 to 1 odds. We are not sure of the splits but we think it may be a new track record for Bits & Bytes Downs.
