Bits & Bytes Farm Horses in Competition Last WeekendThree horses from Bits & Bytes Farm attended the May 7th Oxer Farm Dressage and Three Phase schooling show - Thoroughbreds Joe Bear and Two Thumbs Up and boarder Hoopla. It was the first three phase event for Joe Bear (ridden by Paula Gunnels) and Two Thumbs up (ridden by Marie van Roekel). Boarder Hoopla, with mom Angela Jett, also competed in the dressage only part of the show. Paula and Joe Bear were in fine form sitting in second place after the dressage phase in the Pre-Novice division. The pair went clear on the cross country course and maintained their spot in second. The stadium course was tough, with two quick rollbacks that eliminated several riders -- but not Joe Bear and Paula. They made the turns and went clear in stadium. The pair held on to second place at the end of day.
Joe Bear and Paula also placed second in a dressage only class as well as in the combined training three-phase event.
Angela and Hoopla earned second place ribbons for their Training Level dressage tests Three and Four.
Marie and "Thumbs" had a large class for their Amoeba three-phase. They were in the back of the field after dressage but had a clear round in cross country.
The pair succeeding in navigating the quick turns in the stadium jumping phase and finished clean with no faults. It still wasn't enough to pull them up into the ribbons, but Marie was happy with Two Thumbs Up's progress. Also competing this weekend were former Bits & Bytes Farm horses Our Boy Darcy, RU Ready to Rumble and Snake Proof. Our Boy Darcy's mom, Jessica, called Barry to let him know "Darcy" did very well bringing home several ribbons (including a blue) from a horse show last weekend at the Olympic Park in Conyers, GA. Congratulations Jessica! Send photos, Jessica.
Bits & Bytes Farm trainer, Elisa Wallace, competed last weekend at the Poplar Place Horse Trials with her Thoroughbred, Jackson. It was the pair's first time competing at the Intermediate level and they finished a close third! One rail down in the stadium was all that kept them from winning first place. The scores were close and less than two points separated them from the winner of the division. Former Horses for Sale from Bits & Bytes Farm, RU Ready to Rumble and Snake Proof also competed at the Poplar Place Horse Trials last weekend.
