Welcome to Bits & Bytes Farm

Welcome to Bits & Bytes Farm on the Web. Take a virtual tour of the farm and see the beautiful thoroughbreds we have for sale. Follow their training and learn how we bring them from racetrack to a new career in the show ring, fox hunting or eventing.

The Bits & Bytes Farm Bareback Challenge . . .

Gertjan Van Roekel (Big Money) challenged Rachael Roberts (Broadway Joe) to a Bareback Gambler's Choice jumping competition at Bits & Bytes Farm. Both horses are former Bits & Bytes Farm sale horses who currently board and train at the farm. Both Gertjan and Rachael have gotten the jumping bug and a challenge was issued. The rules were no saddles (grab strap allowed), two minutes to jump the course, only the fences cleared clean gather points. The fences can be jumped in any order - as many times as desired. Each fence had an assigned point value from 10 to 30 points.

The challenge drew visitors from as far away as North Carolina, Lake Lanier and even Atlanta! The rider's tension mounted as the crowd relaxed on the "Meg & Mary Jo Grubbs patio" (owner's of former Bits & Bytes Farm sale horse Lylle) under the sun umbrella drinking wine and eating cheese and crackers provided by "Friend of Bits & Bytes Farm" Linda Ross.

Kasee with the "Official Timer" Andy, Gloria, Christy and Linda under the sun umbrella.

Three photographers (two digital still cameras and one video camera) documented the event. Our official scorer was Leighton Price owner of MacTavish (formerly known as Te Conquistar). Our official timer, Andy, came down directly from the Biltmore Estate (where he cares for former Bits & Bytes Farm horse Fame). Marc and Gloria Coleman (Fame's mom and Dad) joined us for the day along with friend Christy Tucker and trainer Kasee Trefzger.

And the winner is . . . Rachael Roberts riding the "Prettiest Horse in the Barn" Broadway Joe!

It was a close finish but Rachael was able to gather more points within the the time allowed. The winning scores were: Rachael Roberts 150 and Gertjan van Roekel 120 points. A great time was had by all! Thanks for the laughs.

Gloria caught cheating on Fame!

Gloria could not pass up the opportunity to try Fame's half brother Secret during her visit to the farm! Gloria, friend Christy and trainer Kasee all rode and jumped with Secret. Gloria's husband Marc declared that Secret has the same sweet face and eye as Fame and has some of the same personality traits. The consensus was that Secret is a sweet horse that will make someone a great partner as Fame is to Gloria.

Call or come by for a visit

Please call us to discuss which horse might be the best match for you based on riding skill, experience and equine personality. We do not send out videos because it is important to match the personality of the horse with the personality of the rider. We are matchmakers, not horse brokers. We have horses in a wide price range. Call us to discuss prices or to schedule an appointment. We'd love to have you come meet all of our horses--we know that it will be worth your time. Just bring peppermints!
