Welcome to Bits & Bytes Farm |
| Welcome to Bits & Bytes Farm on the Web. Take a virtual tour of the farm and see the beautiful thoroughbreds we have for sale. Follow their training and learn how we bring them from racetrack to a new career in the show ring, fox hunting or eventing. Cross-Country Training at Deerhaven Farm
It was a gorgeous fall day to be out riding. We like to say it was a Five (Bay) Star Day for the horses of Bits & Bytes Farm. Our gracious hostess Julie Montgomery opened up her heart and her farm to our horses and owners to give them one of the most pleasant rides ever! After a picnic overlooking the spring fed pond, we saddled up to tour the property. Rolling hills and well groomed pastures were inviting us to gallop. We first circled the perimeter of the property at a walk and trot and then enjoyed galloping in the large pasture by the pond.
Gertjan and Big Money were grinning from ear to ear. Both of them could not go fast enough. Rachael and Broadway Joe get the award for the fastest pair though. Oh, to be that young and invincible again!
What a beautiful sight to see -- Thoroughbreds doing what they love most -- galloping! They all enjoyed the fields and woods and were well behaved and easy to control. None of them tried to take advantage of the wide open spaces provided by the many acres and beautiful pastures of Deerhaven Farm.
The five bay stars included Era of Chanago (ridden by Marie), Brewster (ridden by Barry), Broadway Joe (ridden by Rachael), Big Money (ridden by Gertjan) and our newest horse -- Wiseguy's Out doing tripod duty for Elizabeth.
A great big Bits & Bytes Farm THANK YOU to our hostess Julie for the pleasure of riding on her lovely farm. It was a great training experience for both the horses and the riders, too!
Former horses of Bits & Bytes Farm UPDATE:Another Baileysontherocks update . . .I just wanted to give you some more news about Bailey. Today we took Bailey out on a short trail ride with Josh from our new barn. HE DID FANTASTIC!!!. You would think he was an old cow horse. It was funny because our green horse Chili took the lead with Bailey behind her and Caddy and Dawson at the rear. Bailey went through puddles, water and past one Arab mare of another rider who was actively working on dumping her rider on the ground AGAIN. Bailey and Josh went by like they had been riding trail for years. We aren’t ready to turn them loose on the long trails yet, but I wanted to let you know how much we love this horse’s attitude. . . The story continues on our Baileysontherock's Success Stories page. Smokey attends the Belle Meade Fox Hunt Opening hunt.
Hey Liz! Well, opening meet was a blast! Smokey and I rode with the hilltoppers for the first hour or so, and the field for the rest of the time. He did beautifully. He jumped all of the coops and we did a LOT of galloping. He thought he was back at the track! But he never ran away or got out of control. He had a great time. He was very excited but stayed clam and listened the whole time. He took all of those huge coops like a pro. . . The story continues on our Got Um Smoke Um's Success Stories page. Call or come by for a visitPlease call us to discuss which horse might be the best match for you based on riding skill, experience and equine personality. We do not send out videos because it is important to match the personality of the horse with the personality of the rider. We are matchmakers, not horse brokers. We have horses in a wide price range. Call us to discuss prices or to schedule an appointment. We'd love to have you come meet all of our horses--we know that it will be worth your time. Just bring peppermints!
