It is no secret that I have a crush on Western Pride babies.
Our first Western Pride baby was Justnamehimeddie. 'Eddie' was just three when he was sold and he was so quiet a beginner could ride him. Visit his sold page to see the video of his first off-the-track ride. He is still loved by his buyer and lives on their farm in Georgia.
When his sister became available for sale, we listed her on our website. Made In Her Image was a beautiful black three-year-old filly. Her buyer/mom lives on Nantucket, and when she purchased her, she started building a barn for her. Made In Her Image came to Bits & Bytes Farm for training during the barn building. The barn construction took longer than expected due to the Corona Virus. During her time at our farm, we all fell in love with this filly and nicknamed her, 'The Marvelous Missy Mae'. We all cried when she left. She took three trailer rides and a ferry to Nantucket to be with her mom. She is still enjoying life on the island and has a pony look-a-like that I call Minnie Mae.
I tried to find her full sister to buy her for myself, but she never made it to the track, and I could not find her. Then one day, I got a call from a breeder that I know, and he said, "I heard you were looking for a Western Pride baby". He told me he had a black three-year-old Western Pride filly. She was the same age as Made In Her Image was when she came to the farm!
Thoroughbreds are like potato chips, you can't just have one, or two, or three, or five...why not get a sixth?! It almost cost me my marriage, but Cowgirls Pride came to Bits & Bytes Farm to stay.
She was the same age as 'Eddie' and 'Mae' and just as laid-back and sweet. Anyone can ride her. She is a tank and loves to jump and do trail rides. We often 'off-road' the trails and drag trees and branches off the trail.
Next, we sold Twisted Pride to a 12-year-old girl. Enough said. It was love at first sight.
So here we are years later with one more Western Pride gelding for sale - Shanghai Prince. This guy has had a long racing career, and he is ready for a new career. I tried to get my husband to get him for himself, but he is sticking to his guns and says six is enough. My loss could be your gain. Western Pride passed away a few years ago so, I am not sure if we will ever have another one for sale.
Visit our Thoroughbred-Horses-For-Sale website for more information, photos, and video of Shanghai Prince.
