Bits & Bytes Farm - Thoroughbred- Horses For Sale

Thoroughbred Horses For Sale

"Horses for sale." These words are exciting or scary depending on whether you are a buyer or a seller.

What do you do if you are a race track trainer who has a Thoroughbred horse for sale, who is sound, but just not competitive? The public cannot get onto the race track without a licensed professional to escort them. Trainers don't have the time to give tours of the race track. Trainers who care about their horse won't take it to auction or sell it for low end racing. These are the trainers we get our horses from.

The Reality of Being a Horseman

My great night having dinner with my sisters was shattered when I got home to find out the mare that lives next to us broke her leg somehow and was put down while I was having dinner.

The Latest Newz from Bits & Bytes Farm

You may have noticed a change! After almost 20 years of building this website, we thought it might be time for another update. The Bits & Bytes Farm website was created in 2001 and has gone through many changes. It was originally started for two reasons, the first was to help promote the Thoroughbred breed and find homes for ex-racehorses. The second reason was for us to learn how to build websites back in the day where it was all done in HTML code. The technology for building websites has gotten better and better. Today, we use a content management system known as WordPress to create our website. WordPress is built on a database which makes it easy to sort out the stories you want to read and link to related stories. If you want to see the old site sections (there is tons of good content there) you can click on the Archive button in the menu above.

This website will forever be a work in progress as we are always learning how to make websites more useful for visitors. We use this website to test out new technologies that we apply to our clients' websites -- that's where we make the money, it is well spent on the Thoroughbreds.

If you need a website for your business, just give us a call. Our websites are built so that Google will find them and they will appear in the appropriate searches by potential customers. Though website design has gotten easier the underlying structure of the website has changed and it is critical that a website is built from the ground up with search engine optimization (SEO) in mind. Our website business is Egeland Wood & Zuber, Inc. Give us a call if you would like assistance with your digital marketing.

Cause She Can - Thoroughbred Horse For Sale - Bits & Bytes Farm - SOLD!

Cause She Can is a 16 hand (still growing), dark bay/black Thoroughbred mare. She has a warmblood build and should fill out more. She looks like her sire Cowboy Cal. ...See his photo in her photo gallery. She has only raced three times and she shows no potential to be a contender in Kentucky racing. Her owner purchased her to race in Arizona but there is no racing there due to theCovid-19 pandemic. She needs to find a new career in the show ring. She is believed sound for any career and she has no vices or previous injuries.

UPDATE MARCH 2021: Cause She Can has been SOLD! Congratulations to Nicole McCoy of Sellersville, PA on the purchase of this ‘Black Beauty’.

This mare is very lovable and wants to bond with one person. She is good to ride but she is young and would need a confident rider to show her the ropes. She loves her baths and being brushed. She likes having a routine and a job. In the summer she gets dark and dapples out. She is clipped in these photos so she does not look as dark as she will with her full coat. She is an easy keeper which is unusual in a Thoroughbred - especially a young one that is still growing. I think she will really be mistaken for a warmblood when she is done growing. Another unusual Thoroughbred trait she has is fabulous feet. She might even be able to go barefoot! "Dorothy' has been turned out alone and in a group and either is fine with her.

We feel that 'Dorothy' has show hunter potential.  She might just beat all the warmbloods in the open classes. She is a Thoroughbred in training and has raced so she is eligible for the Retired Racehorse Project.

This mare is very well bred and Her pedigree includes many bluebloods such as Giants Causeway, Storm Cat, Northern Dancer, Distorted Humor, Secretariat, Raise A Native, Danzig, Sir Ivor, Hansel, Mr. Prospector, and Forty Niner.

Don't wait to call. Horses are going before we get them to the website. Snooze, you lose. She is available now!

Please call or visit our website for current pricing. The price can go up or down depending on the owner. We always check with the owner when someone is a serious buyer. Many times the price goes down to a really good home. We do not own these horses so we cannot control the pricing. We will not sell a horse to just anyone with the money. We carefully select the horses we sell and we work hard to make a perfect match. If you don’t call, we cannot help you. We are not a rescue and our horses are not ‘rescue priced’. Most horses are between $2500 and $4500 – some higher and some lower. Call and we can talk more about our horses and let us help you find the perfect match. We take the gamble out of getting a Thoroughbred off-the-track. Learn more about how our Track Prospect Horses are priced on the main Bits & Bytes Farm website.

I look forward to speaking with you. Please call 770-704-6595 (landline - no texts) between 9am and 9pm. East Coast Time - Elizabeth Wood
