We started finding homes for Thoroughbreds way back in June 2001. On our first load of horses off-the-track we had a sweet gelding named Backinthefuture. Now we are in the future looking back to 2001.
Here are photos of him with his trainer Jeri Beaber at Thistledown racetrack in June 2001.
His last owner was kind enough to stay in touch with us. Here is her latest note:
"Backinthefuture passed in 2021 at the age of 26. He had a peaceful and enjoyable retirement for four years before his hock injury became too troublesome. -- Jennifer Steadman Galbraith"
We are grateful to good owners like Jennifer Steadman Galbraith who don't dump their horses as they age but rather give them a good retirement.
Rest in peace "Future". Who knew that this first load of four Thoroughbreds from the track would lead to us finding homes for over 300 ex-racehorses in the future. It has been quite a rewarding ride. Thank you to all our buyers who have given these horses loving homes and a chance at a second career.
