We did a quick trip to Kentucky to drop off Bounced in Kentucky where he will pick up his ride to his new home in Oklahoma. We returned with our newest off-the-track Thoroughbred – Reign Day who will be in training at Bits & Bytes Farm for then next month or so before he goes to his new home in Massachusetts.

“Scout” is a 2007, late May foal who is already 16.2 and still growing. He is a bay with three white socks. He is a very well bred Kentucky horse who has no desire to be a race horse.

It’s been a busy week at Bits & Bytes Farm. We found a home for our “BAYby” Bounced and for one of our Prospect Horses For Sale at the Track – Reign Day. We have a new Prospect Horse listed – “Sammy” and another one soon to be listed. I guess it is Spring Fever or Global Warming!

“Sammy” is a 2006 almost 16 hand bay Thoroughbred gelding. He was foaled on May 2, 2006 in Kentucky so he has a few more years to grow. “Sammy” has not raced because he showed no talent or desire to be a race horse. He is young, sane and believed sound for any career. He has incredible movement and should be a show horse. See “Sammy’s” photos.

We found one great home for two beautiful fillies this week. Our Prospect Horses From the Track page had listed “Bambi” (registered name – Meant to Run) and Classy Macy. Both horses will be on their way home to Thackerville, Oklahoma Thursday morning. Kelly Payne-Neave and her husband drove to Kentucky to pick up their new polo pony prospects. Say that three times! We did a quick trip to Kentucky to pick up our newest OTTB – I’m Tellin Ellen aka “Ella”. We were able to visit with friends in Lexington, load up the trailer with Kentucky hay for our horses back home and check out the construction for the World Equestrian Games at the Kentucky Horse Park. “Bambi” is a 2006, 15’2+ hand bay, Thoroughbred filly. She has only run three times and has not beaten a horse. She is super kind and very quiet. The exercise rider says she is very sweet to ride and he is the one who named her “Bambi”. Said she should make the transition to riding horse very quietly and easily. She needs a home now though trainer has more horses to coming in.

Winter in Georgia usually means wearing and extra layer of clothing and riding continues as usual. We don’t really need indoor arenas because the ground seldom freezes. Our biggest concern is the wind on a cool day getting under the horses’ tails. We call those “Wahoo Days”. . .
