King T'Challa - Thoroughbred horse for sale from Bits & Bytes Farm
King T'Challa is a 2017, 15.2 hh bay Thoroughbred gelding for sale. Don't let his size sway you. He has the most heart of any horse his trainer has ever ...been around. He tries so hard with everything you ask him to do.
He loves having his head scratched, brushed, and washed. He will stand with his head pressed in your chest wanting to be petted and rubbed. His owner and trainer had decided to retire him at the end of this season but the races and distances he normally runs have not been going so he is having to run further than he prefers. He is the barn pet.
T'Challa stands ties for baths and grooming. He is good with the blacksmith and vet. He loads on a step-up and ramp trailer. His trainer has traveled all over racing this horse and she always handles him by herself. He is the best-mannered, sweetest guy who only wants to please you. He is a talker and a greeter when you come to the barn. He loves to train, be ridden, and just be interacted with. He is the complete package for anyone. He is not lazy but rides very easily forward and really could go any direction you wish to train him in.
He is smart. Real smart. It took his trainer about 30 seconds to teach T'Challa how to bow for treats. When you ride a horse, and especially a smart Thoroughbred, you are always either training or untraining. He does need a rider who will be firm with him as he is very smart. He is not a difficult ride, but if he figures out that you don't know what you are doing, he could easily become the boss.
King T'Challa has two blemishes. His right knee is leaking synovial joint so there is always fluid on his knee. The injury happened as a late yearling. He has raced with it. The fluid never carries any heat and it has never been drained because the vet said it would just fill up and come back. The second injury is a small outside splint on the right front which happened in a race last June. Splints are considered a blemish and not a soundness issue if they are old. He was given appropriate time off after the injury. T'Challa has never been injected. He has always remained sound during his racing career.
He was bred by his owner and we know his whole life history. He has always had time off each year from racing. He has not been turned out with anyone else in a couple of years but he should adjust well into a herd.
Requirements of a potential buyer:
Please remember that King T'Challa loves human contact and loves to be handled. He would do best in a home where he is ridden and handled most days. He really could go any direction from trail horse, jumper, barrel horse, or eventer. He has no limitations at all. His owner and trainer will be picky as to where he goes and they would like an occasional picture or write-up about him. This is really imperative.
Making the decision to sell this horse has been very hard, even though he was not the most successful racehorse. He has touched a lot of hearts along the way and everyone knows who he is. He will dress himself with his own crown of hay as you can see in the pictures and videos. He is just the sweetest funniest horse who loves all kinds of treats and fruits. If you're eating, he is eating it right beside you. He will be your lifelong buddy if your love and care for him. This horse is so trusting and will follow you to the end of the earth.

Twisted Pride - Thoroughbred Gelding For Sale from Bits & Bytes Farm

Twisted Pride is a 2019, dark bay 16 hand unraced Thoroughbred gelding. He is unraced and has no history of injuries. He does have a bad case of the slows ...so, his owner is not willing to keep trying to make him into a racehorse.
While he might not be fast enough for the races, we like that. He is flashy with three white stockings and a big blaze and he will get noticed in the show ring.
What makes us want to list this horse is that he is related to three other Western Pride babies we have had the pleasure to work with. Two we sold, Justnamehimeddie and In Her Image (aka the ‘Marvelous Missy Mae’), and one we kept for ourselves, Cowgirls Pride. These are all half-siblings with Western Pride as their sire. He stamps his babies and you can look at the others and see they are related. The best trait Western Pride passes on is his temperament. Each and every one of these horses is amateur-friendly. They have great brains and beauty.
Call if you are interested and we can tell you about his family. We are considering bringing the horse to the farm and the price would be much higher if that happens. If we do bring the horse to the farm, I am afraid we might not sell him if he is as much a lover as his sister, Cowgirls Pride.Show More

My Dude Billy’s race records show why he is for sale. In his two races, he finished last and second to last.
My Dude Billy is a beautiful mover and very kind. He has had no injuries and he has no vices. He only raced twice and showed no speed. His trainer feels that he would make a great show horse or jumper. He is a pleaser. Billy wants to please.
My Dude Billy would be a great candidate for next year’s Retired Racehorse Project. He should be an easy horse to train since he is so willing to please and without any soundness issues.

Paynted Thoroughbred Horse For Sale - Bits & Byte Farm
Meet Paynted, a wonderful 2016, 16 1/2 hand Thoroughbred gelding who's ...
Meet Paynted, a wonderful 2016, 16 1/2 hand Thoroughbred gelding who's looking for a new chapter in his life. While he's had a successful racing career with 24 starts, including ...six wins (two just this year!), he's ready to transition to a new career. At seven years young, he's all set for a fresh start in a loving forever home as a sport horse.
This handsome fella is a true gem, both in his looks and behavior. He's a stunning mover, and his manners on the ground are top-notch. Whether you're into dressage, eventing, or hunter disciplines, he's up for the challenge. He's a breeze to handle for the blacksmith, while trailering, and with the vet. With his impressive presence and outstanding movement, he's bound to catch everyone's eye in the show ring.
Paynted has some incredible breeding in him. His maternal grandfather is Tiznow and his paternal grandmother, Tizso, is a full sister to Tiznow. Tiznow’s breeding goes back to Relaunch and Seattle Slew. Paynted’s sire is Paynter whose sire is Awesome Again. Side note: Paynter (Paynted’s sire) was second in the Awesome Again Stakes (named for Paynter’s sire). Paynted is extremely well bred and the fact that he has raced so long tells you he has good genes. See Paynted’s pedigree to see his remarkable family. Paynted's lineage is truly remarkable. His family tree boasts names like Tiznow, Relaunch, and Seattle Slew, making for some incredible breeding.
While Paynted is a light cribber, his habit is fully under control with a strap, which his owner will provide. Importantly, he doesn't crib when he's turned out, and many horses tend to leave such habits behind when leaving the racing scene. Additionally, he has old and well-set osselets that won't impact his future pursuits. He's an easy keeper and has enjoyed time with other horses during breaks from racing. He is believed sound for any career.
This incredible horse has so much potential, and despite his minor quirks, he's an ideal candidate for someone willing to look beyond them. In fact, he could be a fantastic candidate for next year's Retired Racehorse Project. With his rich history and promising future, Paynted is ready to become a cherished companion in his next adventure.

Arista Bird - Thoroughbred Mare SOLD by Bits & Bytes Farm

Arista Bird is a stunning 5-year-old Thoroughbred mare. She has only had a few races under her belt, and she has not shown great promise or potential as a racehorse. ...In her three races, she finished 12th, 5th, and 9th place. As you can see in the photos and video of her, taken on the day she retired from the track, she has a gentle and kind demeanor. The young lady riding her, started her in when Arista was just two years old. Coming off the track this quiet and sweet, shows just how much care and love has been invested in this mare by her owner and contacts.
It is clear to see that Arista has been well-cared for throughout her life. She is sound, with no vices, and she is not marish. She can be turned out with other mares or geldings. She enjoys living outside with a run-in shed when she is not racing. She has some of the best feet we have ever seen on a Thoroughbred. She might even be able to go barefoot if you footing allow for this.
This mare is an absolute dream to be around, and her behavior is a testament to the love and attention she has received from her owner. Arista is a calm and well-mannered mare who loves nothing more than to be brushed and bathed. She is a joy to handle and is well-behaved for vets and farriers. She loads easily onto step-up and ramp trailers and can be tied up anywhere. Her behavior around the barn is just as uncomplicated as it is on the track. This mare is an absolute pleasure to have in your barn, and she loves to be the center of attention.
Arista Bird's owner has a deep connection with her. He wants nothing but the best for her, and finding her a comfortable and loving retirement home is of utmost importance to him. With her RRP eligibility, no physical limitations, and promising potential, Arista could make an excellent upper-level hunter. Standing at 16 hands high, she still has some growing and filling out to do, but she is already a stunning mare.
If you're looking for a mare with a heart of gold, Arista Bird is located in Campbellsville, KY, and is waiting for her forever home. Arista Bird has been SOLD! Congratulations to Colleen Morris of Johnsbury, VT.

Omi Ten is a 2017, dark bay Thoroughbred mare who is 15 hands. She is super cute, sound, clean legs, and up-to-date on everything. She is ready for a new ...sport horse career. She has been raced by her owner/trainer so she has gotten lots of love and attention. Omi is super easy to ride at the track so this means that she will be an easy horse to transition. Just about anybody could ride her. She loads herself on a step-up trailer and travels well. She is not marish.
This girl is very well-bred. Her sire is Tale of the Cat who stood at Ashford Stud and shuttled to Australia & New Zealand because he was so good. His sire is Storm Cat. Her other grandsire is Pulpit by A.P. Indy. Other notable horses in her pedigree include Secretariat, Seattle Slew, Northern Dancer, Honest Pleasure, Mr. Prospector, Nearctic, and Raise a Native.
If you're looking for a smaller horse that is ready to finish to your discipline, hurry and call. Omi would be beautiful in the children's hunter ring. There is not a blemish on her and is ready for her new career. She has nothing in her history to limit what she can do. Her last race was in May and she is barefoot and turned out with six geldings...who she is the boss of.

"Big Cheese” is a 2007, 16.1 hh Thoroughbred gelding. This is a super fun horse to ride. He is forward when you want him to be but will quietly stand ...at the track for an hour before he trains and he loves to train. His legs are clean and he is free of vices.
UPDATE: June2021 Big Cheese" aka Doublefour has been SOLD!
He would make a super jumper or field hunter. We feel could jump the moon in the jumper ring and would fit in just fine in the hunt field. He is good with the blacksmith and walks right on a step up or ramp trailer. He does well with turn out and is broke to the mounting block already. He is one of his rider’s all time favorite horses to gallop. She has had a blast riding him over these past 15 months.
He came off-the-track in February and is rested and ready for a new career.

Cause She Can is a 16 hand (still growing), dark bay/black Thoroughbred mare. She has a warmblood build and should fill out more. She looks like her sire Cowboy Cal. ...See his photo in her photo gallery. She has only raced three times and she shows no potential to be a contender in Kentucky racing. Her owner purchased her to race in Arizona but there is no racing there due to theCovid-19 pandemic. She needs to find a new career in the show ring. She is believed sound for any career and she has no vices or previous injuries.
___________________________________________________________
UPDATE MARCH 2021: Cause She Can has been SOLD! Congratulations to Nicole McCoy of Sellersville, PA on the purchase of this ‘Black Beauty’.
___________________________________________________________
This mare is very lovable and wants to bond with one person. She is good to ride but she is young and would need a confident rider to show her the ropes. She loves her baths and being brushed. She likes having a routine and a job. In the summer she gets dark and dapples out. She is clipped in these photos so she does not look as dark as she will with her full coat. She is an easy keeper which is unusual in a Thoroughbred - especially a young one that is still growing. I think she will really be mistaken for a warmblood when she is done growing. Another unusual Thoroughbred trait she has is fabulous feet. She might even be able to go barefoot! "Dorothy' has been turned out alone and in a group and either is fine with her.
We feel that 'Dorothy' has show hunter potential. She might just beat all the warmbloods in the open classes. She is a Thoroughbred in training and has raced so she is eligible for the Retired Racehorse Project.
This mare is very well bred and Her pedigree includes many bluebloods such as Giants Causeway, Storm Cat, Northern Dancer, Distorted Humor, Secretariat, Raise A Native, Danzig, Sir Ivor, Hansel, Mr. Prospector, and Forty Niner.

Hong Kong Gardens - Quiet 16+ hand Thoroughbred Horse SOLD!

UPDATE March 2021 - Hong Kong Gardens has been SOLD! Congratulations to Catalina Titcomb of Canton, GA on the purchase of Hong Kong Gardens. Cat and 'Sammy Kong' will be ...boarding at Bits & Bytes Farm. Give us a call if you would like to come to meet them.
UPDATE September 2019: Hong Kong Gardens is now being used as a pony horse at the track! In two days, he learned to neck rein, side pass, and turn on the haunches while wearing a Western saddle. He leads horses to the gate and stands quietly when they break open! This horse has a BRAIN!
Hong Kong Gardens is a 2015, 16 hand Thoroughbred gelding who is looking for his new career after retiring clean-legged and sound from racing. This horse is super fun to be around. He has a ton of curiosity and personality. Hong Kong e is great to ride on the track. He has no vices and he is up to date on everything.
This boy gets on a step-up trailer or a ramp trailer with no issues and ships quietly. His trainer really pampers her horses and they all get regular visits to the chiropractor and acupuncturist. The only regular visits Hong Kong has missed…is to the winner’s circle.
Hong Kong is ready to transition to his new show career. He is believed sound for any sport horse career and we know he is sane. Don’t miss out on this one because he will be at the top of the show ring in any discipline. He absolutely floats across the ground at a trot. He is a super cool horse and has been turned out occasionally with mares and other geldings with no issues. This is one very nice big boned gelding.
Oh, and one more thing. Hong Kong Gardens sold at the Keeneland yearling sales in 2016 for $105,000! He is sale priced at just a fraction of his yearling sale price three years ago. Thoroughbred don’t sell for six figures at the Keeneland sale if there is anything wrong with them. He is not selling for anywhere near that price because in 18 races, he won only one! This year, he has been running monthly since March and he is consistent in his ability finish at the bottom of the field to beat just one or two horse in each race. His last race was on July 11, 2019, and he finished last.
Hong Kong Gardens is a nice sweet horse with no talent for racing. He has an impressive pedigree and a disappointing race record. He would make a great sport horse for someone who wants a buddy as well as a fancy show horse. He just needs someone to love him and give him a chance at a different career. Is he your perfect match? Give us a call and we can see.

Utandream is a 2015, dark bay, Thoroughbred gelding. He is not quite 15.3 hands. He is only available for sale because his owner-trainer is located in Arizona and the have ...halted all racing in the state till end of 2021. He is currently on turn out in Arizona so he will be sun-bleached at the moment. These photos were from last fall. He has grown and filled out now that he is five. 'Utand' is sound, vice free, and good for the blacksmith. He cross-ties single-ties, stands for mounting block, and loads on a step up and ramp trailers. He is up-to-date on everything. He is from one of our best owner/trainers who we have gotten many wonderful horses from.
'Utand' is a very well-bred horse with two Triple Crown winners in his pedigree - Seattle Slew and Secretariat. His sire, Stay Thirsty, won almost 2 million dollars and his sire, Bernardini, won over 3 million dollars. 'Utand' pedigree includes A.P. Indy, Storm Cat, Roberto, Hennessy, Northern Dancer, and Nearctic among many other great racehorses. He has raced 26 times and finished first three times. His last race was in February. His Arizona racetrack, Turf Paradise, is shut down until the end of 2021 due to the Coronavirus.
This is a nice horse who is retiring sound. He has always been well cared for. Don't let the Arizona location stop you. We can help you find affordable shipping anywhere in the country. West coast and Texas buyers should really pay attention to this Kentucky bred blue-blood who is in your geographic area. You do not often find Thoroughbreds of this quality west of the Missippi. 'Utand' and is just the coolest guy to be around. He is a good feeling horse who is always happy to go for a gallop. I think any discipline would suit him. His legs have no blemishes and he is just super easy to be around.

Just in time for a Christmas surprise or an early gift for yourself! Forrest Cat is a 2017 bay Thoroughbred gelding. He was lightly raced and has been started under ...saddle. He is well balanced and easy to ride. He is not a deadhead but he is not at all hot. He has a good brain and attitude. He has a lot of growing still to do over the next two to three years.
